STEP #2: You will be required to submit to a criminal background
investigation. In accordance with Ohio Senate House Bill #187.
We require all members to submit to a BCI&I fingerprint
and background investigation prior to appointment and then
every three years thereafter. This BCI can be completed at Helpline of Delaware and Morrow Counties (Delaware County), located at 11 N. Franklin Street, Delaware OH 43015.
You may also select any other convenient location of your
choice. You may reference the following site to locate options:

The average cost for a background
investigation is $35.00 and is paid to the administrating
agency. Once your background is received with a "No Record
Verification" you may continue your application process
and submit your application. Your ninety (90) day probationary
period will begin. |
STEP #3: During your ninety (90) day probationary period and
in compliance with Homeland Security Presidential Directive
#5 you will be required to complete two (2), free, on-line training
courses from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
These courses are the IS-100 Introduction to Incident Command
Systems and IS-700 National Incident Management System (NIMS).

If you have not yet completed the formal Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training course, you will also be required to complete the on-line course: IS-317 Introduction to Community Emergency Response Teams. |
STEP #4: You will now review the
Team Member Handbook and have an orientation meeting with a
member of our Executive Staff. At that time, you will be required
to submit your annual membership dues of $35.00. These dues
are used to off-set the cost of your accident and injury insurance.
|
| As you participate with the group in field trainings and exercises, you will have the capability to complete the field training requirements and the required field task assignments, call-out qualified workshop and pack check. You will then have attained the basic pre-requisites necessary to move from probationary status to active membership. Once an active member, you have the capability to respond to missions with the team. |
